The opening festivities were brought to a close with a gala dinner and
the awarding ceremony of the best European Volleyball and Beach
Volleyball players in the Kikuoka Hotel outside of Luxembourg on
Saturday night.
2,06m tall Russian Ekaterina Gamova was the first athlete to be honoured that
evening. The young Russian won the ‘Best Player 2004’ award in the women’s
category following a very successful season with the Russian national team.
But when asked about the best moment in the last year she said: ‘Winning this
award is the highlight of the past season.’ In fact, her club Dinamo MOSCOW
changed their match schedule to enable their star, accompanied by Alexander
Osipov, Vice-President, and Vladimir Zinichev, General Director of Dinamo
MOSCOW, to travel to Luxembourg and to accept her award.
